Meet Christa Pike

Christa Pike, 39, was sentenced to death at the age of 20 for the torture and murder of classmate Colleen Slemmer. Pike is the youngest in the United States to ever be sentenced to death, and the only female on death row in Tennessee. January 13, 1995 was the day Christina Pike's life took a turn for the worst. On January 13, 1995 Pike lured Slemmer into a secluded area in the woods around the University of  Tennessee. Pike believed that Slemmer was trying to steal her boyfriend, and the thought of this enraged her  . With that being said, Pike, her boyfriend, and a friend attacked Slemmer. They slashed her neck and beat her for over 30 minutes. The three then carved a pentagon into the chest of the victim. After this, Slemmer took a blow to the skull, from Pike,  with a chunk of asphalt, which is what finally killed her. Pike kept a piece of Slemmer's skull after the murder and showed it off to students all around campus. Pike was sentenced to death by electrocution in 1996.

  1. When I initially read the title of your blog, I assumed it would be about women on death row who were actually innocent but I find it interesting that your intention is to showcase women who are actually very guilty and as vicious as their male counterparts. What do you hope people take away from these articles?

    1. Thank you !
Exactly what you said is what I hope people take away from this. I hope that people develop a better understanding of the nature of women. I hope that people learn that their are many sides of women, just like there are many sides of men.

  2. I found this really interesting because you really don't hear much about the women on death row and just hearing their stories of how they got there is crazy. It's like normal problems but they escalate them so much. I think your idea to speak about these women is unique because we never hear much about them, and they are just as dangerous as the men.

  3. This is terrifying. People are crazy!! It isn't even like she just got mad and did something rash she planned it out and lured him into the woods.
